English alt-rockers Bush will reportedly have a new record by the time they return to Australia, with Gavin Rossdale revealing the next album is on the way.

Earlier this week, music fans were undoubtedly ecstatic to learn that some of the biggest names in alt-rock would be making their return to our shores next year for the Under The Southern Stars concert series.

Featuring Live, Bush, and Stone Temple Pilots, it’s a welcome comeback for many of these acts, including Bush, whose last trip to Australia came as part of the 2012 Soundwave lineup, following their 2010 reformation.

Since they got back together, the group have released a handful of new albums, including 2011’s The Sea Of Memories, 2014’s Man On The Run, and Black And White Rainbows in 2017.

However, with a taster of new music arriving earlier this year, it seems that fans can look forward to a new record arriving before too long.

Speaking to HEAVY Magazine recently, Gavin Rossdale explained that preparations for the new record are taking a little longer than planned, but should arrive before they visit Australia.

“It is really, really close,” Rossdale explains. “I thought we would be done by now, we are just going through the mixes and a few bits and pieces, but nothing is that far away.

“All the songs are chosen so the band is done, but the producer wants to put a few little things on things and I have to go back and re-sing something that got lost on the hard drive… so it is really, really close.

“It will definitely be ready by the tour but we will not play too much off the new record but I think it would be nice to pepper three or four in there.”

While newest song ‘Bullet Holes’ features a bit of a heavier sound than previous songs, Gavin Rossdale also touched on how playing with bands of that calibre has clearly rubbed off on him.

“I think listening to a lot more heavier music has got me to enjoy the music, I like the singing of it a lot,” he noted.

“There is the feel, the heavier part of it that I really enjoy, our last record, Black And White Rainbows, had kind of a bruised genesis and this has a more aggressive approach to it. But my version of aggressive is not like head-butting it is more deep and powerful.”

While there’s no definite release date for the new record just yet, it appears as though we won’t have long to wait before Bush release their first album since 2017. Who knows, maybe Aussie fans will be some of the first to hear the new tracks at next year’s Under The Southern Stars concerts?
