Cardi B has just hit back at detractors, who allege she drugged and robbed them.

A 3-year-old social media clip, taken from Cardi’s past life as a stripper, depicts her emotionally recalling the lengths she went to, in order to make it in the music industry. The alleged acts she carried out were also used as a method to secure studio time.

Cardi, real name Belcalis Almanzar, posted the video in response to an individual who claimed the now-famed rapper didn’t deserve her success. In her time as a New York stripper, the ‘I Like It’ hit-maker claimed she would drug and rob men who wanted to have sex with her.

Earlier this week, admissions she made in this clip have led to the hashtag #SurvivingCardiB, referencing that recent Lifetime doco “Surviving R. Kelly,” which detailed several decades of Kelly’s alleged sexual crimes. Kelly threatened legal action against his detractors.

Amidst these allegations coming back into light, fresh calls have been made for Cardi to be “cancelled,” while others have suggested jail time as an appropriate solution.

In separate tweets on Sunday and Monday, the Grammy award-winner brushed off the social media backlash. However, in a lengthy Twitter post on Tuesday, the rapper details some reasoning for her alleged inappropriate behaviour.

“I’m seeing… that a live I did 3 years ago has popped back up.”, the American artist writes.

She continues, “I talked about things I had to do in my past… I needed to do to make a living.”

The rapper then continues to deny her wrongdoing is solely to blame on herself, claiming that she had to do so to survive. She then concludes her statement by normalising her behaviour. “I have a past that I can’t change… we all do.”
