From founding member of one of the most influential bands to come out of the ’90s riot grrrl movement to star of the generation-defining comedy sketch series Portlandia, Carrie Brownstein‘s career is eclectic, multi-faceted, and fascinating.

The Seattle native recently unveiled her acclaimed and eagerly anticipated memoir, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl, in which Brownstein details her troubled upbringing and her rise and self-exploration amidst the city’s feminist punk scene.

She’ll be exploring all of this and more when she sits down with Aussie radio staple Myf Warhurst at Melbourne Town Hall next week for a special event presented by The Wheeler Centre. It promises to be an evening of “defiance, humour and rock and roll”.

Brownstein will be in the country touring with Sleater-Kinney, who most recently unveiled No Cities to Love, their long-awaited eighth studio album, which garnered critical acclaim and made it on to many end-of-year lists.
