Chester Bennington’s 22-year-old son is set to follow in his father’s footsteps, re-recording material from one of his dad’s first bands.
Back in 2017, the music world was undoubtedly shocked to hear that Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington had passed away at the age of 41.
Since his passing though, we’ve learnt that there have been a number of collaborations that might still be released, with a song made with Slash still in the vaults, and a tune with Lamb Of God’s Mark Morton being released recently.
However, years before Chester Bennington joined Linkin Park in the late ’90s, he put in the hard yards as a vocalist for other bands in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.
The most successful of these early groups was undoubtedly Grey Daze, a grunge-inspired band who released just two albums before splitting in 1998. Now, two decades on from their breakup, it appears that the group are revisiting some of their old material.
As The PRP notes, Grey Daze took to Facebook a couple of days ago to announce that Chester Bennington’s son Jaime had been in the studio, tackling some of his dad’s old tunes.
“We had Jaime sing along with his father last night at NRG Recording Studios and his voice is great!” the group explained. “Sounds a lot like his father and we were all very proud to be a part of it.”

Likewise, the band also revealed that both Brian ‘Head’ Welch and James ‘Munky’ Shaffer from Korn had also been in the studio, amongst a number of other guests.
According to previous Facebook posts, it appears that the likes of P.O.D.’s Marcos Curiel, Bush’s Chris Traynor, and Ryan Shuck (who performed with Chester in Dead By Sunrise) are also taking part in the new project.
While no concrete announcements or release dates have been revealed, it has been noted which songs some of these musicians are performing on, making it seem as though Grey Daze are re-recording a number of their old tracks.
Whatever the case, this is definitely shaping up to be one star-studded affair.
