Chet Faker is back with “Far Side of the Moon,” his first new music since 2023’s “Something Like This.”
The new track is a heartbreak song about giving too much of yourself to someone you love.“It’s about stretching yourself too thin for someone you love to the point where it’s not healthy for the relationship at all,” says Faker, aka Nick Murphy.

Last year, Faker released a special anniversary edition of his seminal debut album, Built on Glass. First released on April 11th, 2014, the album quickly became one of the biggest Australian debut records of the 2010s.
Recorded in his hometown of Melbourne, Built on Glass featured 12 tracks including the hits “Gold” and “Talk Is Cheap”, the latter topping Triple J’s Hottest 100. The album earned Faker five ARIA Awards and cemented him as the face of Australia’s R&B-infused electronic scene.
In 2014, Faker won multiple ARIAs for Built on Glass, including Best Male Artist, and took out Australian Album of the Year at the J Awards.

“Built on Glass was an important record for me so I’m excited to finally repress it with this expanded edition and share several unreleased recordings from that era. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 10 years than to play the record in full in my hometown Melbourne in the Botanic Gardens – something I haven’t done before,” Faker said.
Faker last released an album in 2021 with Hotel Surrender, which reached the top 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart. That same year, he also released Take in the Roses under the name Nick Murphy & The Program.
Rolling Stone hailed Hotel Surrender as a “welcome return”, noting that the album was “created with the same ethereal qualities that turned him (Faker) into a global sensation.”
