The Frontier Touring Company and Heavenly Sounds are excited to be bringing double Grammy® award winning duo The Civil Wars to Australia and New Zealand for a series of shows that are set to be both visually and sonically spectacular.

The March 2013 concert series will see the American pair touring seven churches and cathedrals across the two countries to perform their beautiful brand of melodic chamber folk and pop.

Joy Williams and John Paul White, the talent behind The Civil Wars, first met in 2009 at a writing camp in Nashville, Tennessee. It has been a whirlwind of success since this fateful meeting with the band amassing a multitude of honours and hundreds of thousands of album sales in three short years.

Their debut album Barton Hollow (out now through Sony) caught the attention of critics across the globe, featuring in the ‘Best Albums of 2011’ editorials of Time Magazine, The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone amongst many more.

‘Beautiful melodies intertwine with their associated harmonies, acoustic guitar and piano combine for serene backdrops.’ –TheMusic.com.au

‘Barton Hollow may be a fictional location, but The Civil Wars’ music gives it a voice and identity—one of mystery, mystique and beauty. War has never been so pleasant.’ – Paste Magazine

Since Barton Hollow’s release, hundreds of thousands of people across the globe have fallen in love with The Civil Wars. The simplicity in the instrumentation of many of their songs lets their perfectly honed harmonies and emotive song writing do the talking.

The Civil Wars have taken their folk/country tunes on the road across the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom in recent months and by all accounts, Australia and New Zealand will be in for a treat:

‘White and Williams showcased their imperious song craft delivered, save for the odd bit of piano, with the simplicity of a single guitar and two hugely complementary voices.’ – Consequence Of Sound

‘There were no tricks, no backdrops and no other musicians, but theirs is a simple case of talent and warm charisma winning through.’ – London Evening Standard

This tour is set to be a treat for all, as The Civil Wars perform their beautiful masterpieces in some of the most architecturally stunning buildings. Be quick to grab your tickets to some of the most spectacular shows of the New Year.
