Coheed & Cambria have announced the cancellation of their 2019 world tour after drummer Josh Eppard was advised to undergo a heart procedure.

Last week, Coheed & Cambria fans in Florida were undoubtedly shocked when drummer Josh Eppard fainted mid-way through their third song of the evening.

Taking place during ‘In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3’, footage of the event shows the drummer losing conscious and slumping over his drumkit.

While the show was put on hold for Eppard to receive medical attention, he later took to the stage to finish the set, much to the admiration of his fans and bandmates.

However, Eppard isn’t out of the woods just yet, with Coheed & Cambria taking to social media to reveal to their fans that they’ve cancelled their remaining tour dates for 2019 as their drummer undergoes a heart procedure.

“As some of you may have heard, our fantastic drummer, Josh Eppard had a fainting spell on stage early in our set Saturday night in Orlando,” the group wrote on Facebook.

“After a visit from the paramedics, he insisted on coming back out to finish the show- which was extremely courageous – but even with the amount of awe we felt, everyone was very concerned.”

“Upon his return home, Josh’s doctors advised him to undergo a procedure called a ‘cardiac ablation’ in the coming weeks. This procedure will close an “extra pathway” to Josh’s heart, which has been causing an irregular heartbeat for some time, and is believed to be responsible for the occurrence in FL.

“Due to the necessity of this procedure, Coheed and Cambria will be canceling the rest of our 2019 dates to let Josh get back to full health, so that we can make sure there will be a World for Tomorrow.

“We apologize from the bottom of our hearts to fans in the Midwest and those in Australia, as well as the organizers of these shows,” the band added. “We feel strongly that an abundance of caution is the best move for Josh and for the band at this time.

“Let there be no confusion, we will be back bigger and stronger in 2020, and are already planning big announcements on the horizon.”

This news comes just two months after Coheed & Cambria were announced as one of the international acts who would be visiting Australia as part of the 2019 Good Things festival.

With the festival set to serve as Coheed & Cambria’s first Aussie tour since 2016, organisers have wished Josh Eppard a speedy recovery, but are yet to announce which artist might take their place on the lineup.

Whatever the case, we too wish Josh Eppard a quick recovery, and that he’s able to visit Australia again once he’s back on his feet and doing what he loves.
