Record Label EMI are hoping that the new Coldplay album goes gangbusters as one of their biggest stars gets set to release a new album in October, although you’d think that it’s going to be a nightmare for them to try and get American radio jocks to pronounce the title. Their fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto (we’re reliably informed that it is pronounced my-lo zy-letoe), will come out on October 21 on Parlophone Records/EMI Music.

The new long player was produced by Markus Dravs, who also produced their last album Viva La Vida, as well as recent releases by Mumford & Sons and the Arcade Fire’s last two album. He was assited by Daniel Green, Rik Simpson and the album was also given ‘enoxification’ and additional composition by Brian Eno,

Mylo Xyloto is set to be released in digital, CD and vinyl formats.  The 180-gram vinyl edition will include a 12” x 36” poster.  A special limited edition Pop-Up Album version will also be available, which will include a 12″ x 12″ hardback book containing graffiti pop-up art designed by David A. Carter, vinyl, CD and exclusive content including photographs, excerpts from the studio diary and the band’s personal notebooks.

The “reversible” cover art can be viewed at www.coldplay.com. Half of the CDs will be packaged with the full colour artwork as the cover while the other 50% will have the CD booklet flipped, showing the silver initials “M X” via a die-cut sheet placed over the colour image.

The second single from the album, ‘Paradise’, the follow up to ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ is set to be released on September 12th.
