It’s been a tough day for many, with the cancellation of many festivals and other events.

But nothing helps lift the spirits like great new music.

This week’s New Country Friday 5 features an all Australian cast, lead by The McClymonts.

So here it is!

1. THE McCLYMONTS – ‘I GOT THIS’

Australia’s most celebrated country trio, The McClymonts have today released their new tune in three years.

In a world full of mayhem (like today!) and ever-growing pressure, ‘I Got This’, an anthemic and assuring slice of country-pop, that reminds us that we’re not in all this on our own.

It was co-written by Brooke, Sam & Mollie McClymont with Andy Mak (Vera Blue, Tina Arena), the award-winning producer and songwriter behind their 2017 album, Endless, which won ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2018 Golden Guitar Awards and gave them their fourth straight #1 ARIA Country Album chart debut.

“We have loved working with Andy to bring these new songs to life.” Brooke commented.

“Time has flown since our last album and we can’t wait to get these new songs out into the world and start touring.” said Sam.

“Our experiences in the last three years have given us so much to write about.” added Mollie.

“Getting our sixth album ready has taken longer than we expected due to our own personal journeys with motherhood, and we are so grateful to still be here doing this together – we’ve got this!”

2. THE BUCKLEYS – ‘MONEY’

The Buckleys new single, ‘Money,’ is their first worldwide release and the follow-up to their #1 single ‘Daydream’ and most recently top five hit, ‘I’m Comin’ For Ya (Love)’

‘Money’ embodies the band’s brand of “Hippie Country” – a genre representing the infectious personality and spirited conscience that the band maintains.

The track was written by lead-singer Sarah Buckley and multi-platinum songwriters Phil Barton (who appears on the latest Tone Countrycast episode) and Dave Thomson.

The Buckleys being nominated for Qantas New Talent Of The Year award at the 2020 Toyota Golden Guitar Awards.

4. NATALIE PEARSON – ‘LET ‘EM TALK’

This feisty new tune with it’s ‘Before He Cheats’ groove is the latest single from local indie artist Natalie Pearson.

“Words can be so much more powerful than we give credit for. They can speak love, hate, truth, and lies,” says Pearson re ‘Let ‘Em Talk.’

“They can sway a situation by what we say, or what we omit.,” she continues.

“They can lift a person up, and they can tear a person down.”

“Ignore the noise and shine for who you are – ‘Let ‘Em Talk.'”

“I think we all need that reminder,” she concludes.

5. JADE GIBSON – ‘TIL WE FLY’

Emerging contemporary country singer-songwriter Jade Gibson releases brand new single ‘Til We Fly’ – the follow-up to her debut EP, The Great Unknown.

“‘Til We Fly’ follows a story of two dreamers, Katie and James who both have something that “sets their soul on fire”. It’s a song about having the right to have and follow your dreams; no matter how big or small they are,”  says Gibson.

“It tells a tale of how no matter how big or small your dreams are you should chase them.”
