Raising kids to be superstars probably isn’t an easy task – and there’s probably no person that understands the process better than Dave Grohl’s very own mum. As reported by Variety, Grohl’s mother Virginia Hanlon Grohl and Dave himself are set to produce a TV focusing on the lives of rock stars’ mums.
The show is set to be named after Virginia’s 2017 book ‘From The Cradle To Stage’ which focused on the stories of mothers who have raised rock stars. The book included personal anecdotes from the mothers of Michael Stipe, Adam Levine, Amy Winehouse, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson and Dr. Dre.
‘From The Cradle To Stage’s TV iteration is set to feature stories from Pharrell, Adam Levine, Tom Morello, and more—as well as Virginia Grohl’s personal stories and family photos.
“I’m excited to introduce the viewing public to the strong, loving women who have supported the insistent dreams of their musical sons and daughters,” Virginia Grohl said in a statement.
Dave Grohl added, “I’m beyond excited to join in on the next step of my mother’s project to explore the stories of other musicians who were as fortunate as me, having been raised by such amazing women. Plus…I owe her one.
Last year the pair appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert together, where Virginia read out Dave’s old report card and discussed Kurt Cobain’s suicide. Their press junket also included Dave’s hilarious attempt into the world of sketch comedy, where he tried to dispute his mum using embarrassing pre-rock star photos of him in the book.
In March, Virginia Grohl as announced as the first speaker for this year’s BIGSOUND conference, where she’ll be delivering a keynote speach where she’ll “detail the trials and tribulations of raising a world-famous rock star”.
In a recent interview, Dave clapped back at those who claim the Foo Fighters sound has become tired, saying that he’s never tried to chase anything else.
“And we get cursed for it: ‘Oh God, it’s another Foo Fighters record.’ Well, yeah! I don’t wanna make a reggae record.
