The Davey Lane Australian Tour 2013 has been announced; after a successful debut tour of the east coast in September/October, the hard working cosmic-pop songsmith Davey Lane is heading back out on the road.
In late November, Lane – best known as the guitarist for You Am I – tours Victoria and visits Sydney in nowadays-rare solo configuration as support to Ian Ball of Gomez on his Australian Tour.
In early December, Lane returns to Sydney with band in tow as they prepare to release a new EP expected in January, entitled Tymes Two.
Last September, his debut EP The Good Borne Of Bad Tymes was released through his own label Field Recordings to praise from critics and fans alike and spawned the Triple J hit ‘You’re The Cops I’m The Crime’.
“Well I’ve always loved the idea of the field recording, Alan Lomax styles,” the musician told Tone Deaf of naming his new label; “travelling to far-flung places with a portable reel-to-reel and documenting all kinds of folk music. I couldn’t believe someone hadn’t already used the name so I snapped it up.”
2014 is shaping up to be a big one for Lane as he bunkers down in coming months to prepare a full length album, so don’t miss your last chance this year to catch him in solo and band formats.
