Last week, the annual gathering of the emos, Good Things Festival, announced their stunning 2019 lineup. One act inclusion that raised a few eyebrows was The Veronicas.

Wedged at the 10th spot on the lineup, underneath monolithic heavy names such as Parkway Drive, A Day To Remember and Violent Soho and between Karnivool and Coheed And Cambria stood the legendary sister act.

Thankfully, the inclusion of The Veronicas was met with praise and pure bliss by future punters. They did, after all, perform one of the finest pop-punk ditty’s of the early 2000s with the track ‘When It All Falls Apart.’

Now, in a new interview with Music Feeds, Jess and Lisa have opened up about rising to the highest echelons of Australian superstardom during the golden era of pop-punk, their relationship with the genre and a few notable names that are self-professed fans.

One impressive fan that The Veronicas can flex is Disturbed frontman David Draiman. When asked about the potential of a wall of death opening up during ‘Untouched’, Jess confirmed that they had plans to make it happen.

“Oh, absolutely! We’re going to make sure that people can get down to The Veronicas’ music,” she shared.

Jess continued to detail that legendary producer Max Martin, who co-wrote the duos first few singles, was a metalhead at heart — which consequently led to the group garnering the approval of some of the finest names in metal.

“I think that’s why a lot of our music early on, there’s something about the way that he writes music that metal fans gravitate to. We had a bunch of local rock bands coming to our shows early on,” Jess explained.

Lisa recalled a time where David Draiman casually rocked up to one of their shows, “I remember David Draiman from Disturbed showing up to our shows and he was a big fan,” she shared. “I think there’s a correlation with the melody and heavy riffs that those music fans really relate to.”
