David Gilmour has just gifted his fans a special treat, releasing his Live At Pompeii concert for free via YouTube.

What’s the most unique venue you’ve ever witnessed a live performance? Maybe it was the basement of your mate’s place, or maybe it was the top level of the multi-storey carpark outside of your local Big W?

Or maybe, just maybe, you happened to witness a live performance at the Amphitheatre of Pompeii back in 2016?

Such was the case for David Gilmour a few years back, who performed the first public performance at the ancient location since 79 AD.

Yes, returning to the venue for the first time since Pink Floyd’s iconic Live At Pompeiii concert film, Gilmour followed in the footsteps of his old band, holding a long-awaited solo show at the location in support of his 2015 album Rattle That Lock.

Since then, the performance has been released as a live album and concert film, with varying packages being made available for his dedicated fans.

But what if you’re just a casual fan? What if you just want to witness the live show on a casual basis, without wanting to commit to purchasing a hard copy? Well, David Gilmour has come to the rescue.

In related news, David Gilmour is set to auction off a number of his iconic guitars next month in an attempt to raise money for charitable causes.

“These guitars have been very good to me,” Gilmour explained to Rolling Stone. “They’re my friends.”

“They have given me lots of music. I just think it’s time that they went off and served someone else.I have had my time with them,” he added. “And of course the money that they will raise will do an enormous amount of good in the world, and that is my intention.”
