Next month’s tour of Austral by expat metal group Destroyer 666 has officially been cancelled.

On April 23rd, Tone Deaf reported on the “slime trail of racist, misogynistic, and violent hate speech” left behind by Destroyer 666 and their controversial frontman, K.K. Warslut.

With the group originally slated to tour Australia and New Zealand next month, we asked the question of why promoters are giving the group a platform to further their hateful message, especially considering the horrific racially-motivated terrorist attack in Christchurch last month.

Now, the group’s upcoming tour of Oceania has officially been cancelled.

In a Facebook post earlier this evening, promoter Soundworks Touring revealed that Destroyer 666’s scheduled appearances for their upcoming tour have been cancelled, with support act Bölzer instead moving up to the headline position.

In a statement given to the Sydney Morning Herald, Anti-Defamation Commission chair Dr Dvir Abramovich noted that these performances going ahead as planned would have been a “slap in the face” to the families of those killed in the Christchurch attack last month.

“As we witness a dramatic uptick in bigotry, white supremacy and in neo-Nazi activity across Australia, we call on all companies to make sure that any act who has preached intolerance … is never given a platform,” Dr Abramovich.

“If these businesses fail to act morally, they will be contributing and legitimising a climate of … prejudice.”

Soundworks Touring have advised that information relating to ticketing and refunds will be provided in the near future.
