Diplo is hard at work trying to set up one of the collaborations of the year with rapper Travis Scott, but reveals he is being met with silence on the other end.

Look, we’ve all been there. We’ve all sent friends some messages at one point or another, only to receive no reply, until three years later they simply respond with a text saying that they were “busy”. We get it, life happens.

However, very rarely do we get a view into the lives of famous musicians where we discover that fame and fortune does not preclude them from being ghosted by others.

Taking to Instagram recently, US mega-producer Diplo revealed that he had been trying to set up one of the year’s biggest collaborations, only to receive no reply from one of the biggest rappers in the world right now, Travis Scott.

Check out Diplo’s texts to Travis Scott:

While Diplo had teamed up with Travis Scott for Major Lazer’s ‘Know No Better’ back in 2017, the producer revealed that Scott had suggested the pair get together to make another song at some point.

“Travis sees me after a festival and says ‘Hey let’s make another song,” Diplo recalls, “Me “‘What’s your new number ?'”

“Adds number, Texts him next day ‘this is Diplo ‘.. notices the number was saved and I already sent desperate looking texts to the same number fifteen times over 5 years.”

The producer then shared a screenshot of text messages he had sent Travis Scott over the last few months, undoubtedly illustrating a musician becoming more and more insecure about his friendship with the chart-topping artist.

“its Diplo think something might be wrong with my texts … hit me back,” he writes. “yo trav u must be super busy lol i know how it goes anyways hit my line my guy,” he adds, before asking the all-important question; “are u mad at me.”

While we’re not too sure if Travis Scott has since been in contact with Diplo, the rapper recently made headlines for donating merch profits from an Alabama music festival to Planned Parenthood organisations, after the state enacted new laws limiting reproductive rights.

In related news, Diplo was recently announced as one of the headliners of the Listen Out festival, where he’ll be heading around the country with the likes of Flume, 6lack, Denzel Curry, ScHoolboy Q, and Leikeli47.

No word yet if he’ll have a collab with Travis Scott to perform at these festival sets, but it’s still early days.
