One of the most eagerly anticipated albums of the year is the sophomore effort from critically acclaimed UK electronic duo Disclosure. Their star-studded new album, Caracal, is set to drop later this month and fans are salivating at the thought.
As we’ve previously reported, the album has a stacked list of collaborators, but the one feature people can’t stop talking about comes courtesy of Kiwi pop queen Lorde. Well, now fans have a chance to hear the highly anticipated ‘Magnets’.
As Your EDM reports, the 30-second snippet of the track was found in a mini-mix uploaded to Disclosure’s Spotify account, which was abruptly taken down, suggesting it was mistakenly uploaded earlier than the band had planned.
Luckily for fans, the collaboration was extracted in the nick of time and now fans can hear two of the breakout stars of 2014 on the same tune. And according to Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence, Lorde contributed a lot more than just vocals.
“I’m really excited for her fan base to hear it as well as ours because it’s a really big collab, not just like in terms of her singing on a Disclosure tune but the whole thing is a collab, from the drum sounds to the chords,” he said.
“She was involved with every aspect of the song as opposed to just doing the lyrics and melodies and then leaving the rest to us. It was like someone challenging us, someone saying, ‘We can get that extra ten percent.’
“The best thing about it is its simplicity. It’s just a load of tribal drums. It’s the shortest song we’ve ever made as Disclosure as well.” Readers can check out the the track in the embed below at around 2:17.
