Another week, another impressive Like A Version cover. This time it comes courtesy of Australian hip-hop talent Drapht, who recently came back on the scene with a new album and a lauded collaboration with Dune Rats.
Drapht’s latest album, Seven Mirrors, came out last month and was accompanied by the release of ‘Mexico’, a collab with the Dunies boys which was recently bestowed with a loose-AF music video shot in Mexico.
Having witnessed the best Like A Version cover of the year so far and what we reckon is the most original cover of the year so far within the span of about a month, Drapht certainly had his work cut out for him this morning.
No sweat, Drapht just unleashed an absolutely epic version of The Avalanches’s bouncy comeback single ‘Frankie Sinatra’. Drapht laid down his own take on the plunderphonics crew’s Danny Brown collab that we reckon actually far surpasses the original.
We recently ran through a few of our favourite Like A Version covers of the year so far, including Sarah Blasko’s incredible David Bowie cover, Guy Sebastian linking up with Paces, and Hey Geronimo mashing up Courtney Barnett and Regurgitator.
