It’s been a rollercoaster ride for ticket holders of Drip World festival these past few days. After word of a postponement filtered through to media, organisers were quick to shoot it down as misleading. However, in an official post to the events Facebook, organisers have now confirmed that Drip World will be postponed until January 2020.

In the lengthy post, organisers level the blame of the postponement at artist visa applications. The post explains that visa applications for some artists set to perform were not received by this morning and with less than a week until Showtime, it was decided to pull the plug in the initial festival dates.

“We couldn’t risk not to deliver the artists we promised so a decision has been made by the Drip Team with everyone’s support to move the festival from Winter to Summer,” the statement reads.

Organisers have given some insight into what will happen next. Of the 8 international artists previously confirmed, they will endeavour to secure as many as possible for the new dates. The statement explains, “Our line-up of eight (8) massive international artists comes with a complete entourage of ninety-seven (97) people, namely crew, dancers, DJ’s, security, and personnel that all need to be rescheduled.”

As such, organisers will now try and piece together the line-up with artists who can make the new schedule, or with ““Like for Like” or “Better” options to replace those who can’t.

The statement also seeks to position the new dates as far better than the old ones, given that the festival will now be happening in summer. As per the comment section, this is of little solace to those who have already purchased clothing more appropriate for winter festivals, not to mention accommodation for August / September.

Ticket holders have been advised that their tickets will be allow entry into on the newly schedule dates however a refund option will be available come Monday, 2nd September.

It’s been a tense few days for the festival who have been facing repeated questions across all social media from followers desperate to know the fate of the event. Indeed, many such comments were deleted resulting in further scrutiny from the community.

News of a postponement had been somewhat of a poorly kept secret since an email was sent out to contractors informing them that the event had been put ‘on hold’ and as such they may be told at last minute that their services won’t be needed.

“You are the most important person to us. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may bring. If you have any questions, please hit us up directly on Facebook, Instagram, or email. We have real people in the office answering your questions.”

The new dates have been announced as Saturday, 4th January to Sunday, 12th January 2020. No specific dates or venues have been allocated to any city however with FOMO Festival spanning those exact dates, and some overlap with Falls Festival dates, Drip World 2020 will be facing some stiff competition.
