Not content with a number one record, Dunies have now gone one better and have just launched their brand new effort: their very own beer.

Produced as a collab with Young Henry’s, the ‘Dunies Lager’ was a reward from the brewery for Dunies’ latest The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit debuting #1 spot on the ARIA chart, and we’re sure it’ll taste amazing when drunk out of a filthy shoe, as is Dunies custom.

“We hung out with our mates Young Henrys one arvo and it came up that we were gunning for number one when our new album dropped,” the band say. “The fellas said if you get the top spot we’ll brew you your own beer. This is that beer.”

They aren’t the first beloved Aussie rock band to score their own custom beer, but they’ve definitely hit the nail on the head with the design of this one, which has a crisp Vegemite-esque design and will look great in any fridge for the several minutes it lasts before being knocked back in quick succession.

The big selling point, though, comes from Dunies themselves, who make a somewhat dubious claim in their sales pitch of “a can so cold it’ll cool ya house”.

“We set out to make the coldest beer in the world,” they say, “so with Young Henrys scientists we have developed the world’s coldest beer. Even when it’s warm, it’s cold! When it’s a day for it, crack open an ice cold Dunies Lager.”

If that claim holds up, then the Dunies boys should be in for some sort of Nobel Prize to sit alongside their recent ARIA nod.

The brew will be available across the country soon, both in stores and on tap, but the first taste can be had at the official launch party at Sydney’s The Cliff Dive this Sunday Feb 26. There’ll be live sets from White Blanks and Totty, food by Mary’s, cheap Young Henrys tinnies, and a free drink if you get there before 8pm.

The pre-allocation of 200 tickets has already been snapped up, but you can grab them on the door from 7pm – get down early.

No doubt the new brew will be the go-to for the lads backstage when they head off on their national tour this March, dates below.
