Bassist John Taylor of the legendary ’80s new wave outfit Duran Duran is the latest musician to reveal that they have tested positive for COVID-19.

It seems that no one is spared in this global pandemic, not even iconic musicians. We’ve recently seen Marianne Faithful hospitalised with the virus, singer Christopher Cross diagnosed, and Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger pass away.

Now, the latest musician to test positive for the virus sweeping through the world is the esteemed bassist John Taylor of Duran Duran.

Taking to Twitter, the band posted an update from Taylor: “Perhaps I am a particularly robust 59 year old – I like to think I am – or was blessed with getting only a mild case of Covid 19.”

Luckily, Taylor seems to be on the upward mend as he mentioned, “after a week or so of what I would describe as a ‘Turbo-charged Flu’ I came out of it feeling okay – although I must admit I didn’t mind the quarantine as it gave me the chance to really recover.”

“I am speaking out in answer to the enormous amount of fear being generated by the pandemic, some of it is entirely justified, and my heart goes out to everyone who has had to deal with real loss and pain. But I want to let you know that it isn’t always a killer,” he continued.

With the current death toll worldwide sitting on the upwards of 68,000, with over 1.2 million infected, Taylor closed by sending love to all the fans in the world, stating “we can and will beat this thing.”
