Brisbane thrash-party hoons DZ Deathrays are gearing up for a busy year, announcing a national tour just weeks after unveiling news of their next record.

It feels like only yesterday that DZ Deathrays were gearing up to release Bloody Lovely, their first full-length record in almost four years. Now, almost 18 months on, the group are gearing up for another busy period, having announced their next album and now, a run of national tour dates.

Yes, last month saw DZ Deathrays reveal that August 30th will see the release of Positive Rising: Part 1, their fourth studio album. Unveiling new single ‘IN-TO-IT’, fans were quickly wondering when the band might head out on the road to bring the record to the people.

Now, the band have not only dropped a run of Aussie headline dates, but they’ve offered up their latest single, featuring a rather special guest.

Titled ‘Year Of The Dog’, the new single sees the newly-expanded DZ Deathrays teaming up with Matt Caughthran of LA punk outfit The Bronx – a musician that the band have both admired and toured with in the past.

“Matt from The Bronx, one of our all-time favourite bands, drove an hour from his house, came into the vocal booth and nailed his part on, like, the first go,” explained vocalist and guitarist Shane Parsons.

“I felt bad for making him drive so far. But it was also just a showcase of how good a vocalist he is… and that was unreal for me, because now with Lachlan in the band, I’ve been trying to approach things from a vocalist’s perspective, and it shows you how hard you’ve got to work.”

To make things better though, DZ Deathrays will be hitting the road this October for their Positive Rising: Part 1 tour, teaming up with Polish Club, VOIID, and The Buoys for a run of stunning shows.

Hitting up Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, fans will get a chance to witness the group performing two shows, with an over and under-18s performance on offer. Meanwhile, fans in Perth and Adelaide will score an all ages show from the group when they hit up their cities.

Tickets to these extra special shows go on sale from 10am local time on Wednesday, June 17th, with a pre-sale kicking off on Tuesday morning through the band’s website. Check out all the details below!
