Elton John has kicked off his Australian tour in a memorable way, directing an expletive-laden rant towards security guards in Perth over the weekend.

Over the weekend, music legend Elton John performed the first two dates of his final-ever Australian tour in Perth.

Delivering setlists that serve as something of a collection of his greatest hits, fans were undoubtedly stoked to be able to see the iconic musician one final time on local shores.

However, as The Age reports, Perth fans managed to get a little more than they bargained for during the gig, with John letting the obscenities fly towards the security guards at HBF Stadium.

Performing at Sunday night’s show, Elton John took note of a pair of security guards who were ushering a female patron out of the venue just past the show’s mid-way point, and was quick to speak up in regards to the apparent injustice.

“Hey, you two security guards with the girl. Fuck off,” Elton could be heard saying. “Let her up here immediately. Come on you cunts.

“Morons. Both of you morons. You don’t treat girls like that,” he added. “Leave her alone you turds.”

While it’s currently unclear as to why the patron was being escorted out of the venue, Today Perth presenter Louise Momber explained that Elton John’s outburst was mystifying, and completely at odds with the rest of the performance.

“He was so angry,” Momber explained. “He said he can’t stand violence against women and had to say something.

“He sang the next song and then immediately apologised for his rant – but said it’s something he’s really passionate about.

“It was certainly a side of Sir Elton I’d never seen before,” she added. “One of the biggest music stars in the world – and he took on Perth security guards.”

Elton John is set to continue his Australian tour this Wednesday in Adelaide, touring around the rest of the country before eventually wrapping it all up on February 1st.
