Eminem has called out to his home town of Detroit, Michigan to encourage the citizens to “bring the city together” amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Famed rapper Eminem has been quite busy during the global pandemic that’s taken over 2020. From donating bowls of his ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’ to local Detroit hospitals, to auctioning off coveted shoes, Marshall Mathers has made sure to do everything within his power to help his hometown overcome the virus.

Taking part in the City of Detroit’s livestream ‘Everybody vs. COVID-19‘, Eminem has shouted out to Detroit citizens, asking them to “bring the city together” as a means to end COVID-19. The online festival, which took place over the weekend, aimed at raising awareness on how to limit the spread of the virus.

Making an unscheduled appearance, Eminem delivered a spoken-word piece to the citizens of his home town: “Detroit isn’t just a city: it’s also a feeling, a hustle, a state of mind. But mostly, Detroit is a city where we fight for what we believe in, and we don’t take shit just lying down.”

“COVID-19 is no different,” the famed rapper continued. “So we’ve got some work to do in order to stay safe.”

Additionally this livestream initiative by the City of Detroit also aimed at encouraging the citizens of the city to be aware of their ‘Counted Up’ campaign, informing residents about the upcoming census.

Eminem encourage local Detroit residents to join up in being counted as it’s one way they can remain safe: “One way is that we have to be counted — and the census is your way to do just that.”
