Max Cavalera, now dividing his time between The Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly, has unleashed the eighth album by Soulfly, Enslaved. Kicking off with the deceptively placid ‘Resistance’, the album well and truly kicks into gear on ‘World Scum’, the second track. Max is pissed off and he wants the world to know about it.

The tracks on the album have a common thread. Namely, that of slavery throughout the ages. It is a highly compelling subject and listen.

Enslaved features the latest line-up of the band. Along with Cavalera and Marc Rizzo on guitar are bassist Tony Campos (ex Static-X) and drummer David Kinkade (ex-Borknanger). The resulting release sees Soulfly in sensational form.

On tracks like ‘Gladiator’, with its dizzying guitar work, there is a sensational groove at work. It is heartening to see Cavalera maintain the rage.

This album is an absolute must for lovers of all things heavy.
