If you ever thought jazzy brass sections were as dead as flared jeans and mutton chops, then Aussie band Lime Cordiale is going to make you completely question your music taste as you jive out to a mixture of trumpet, trombone, and clarinet mixed fluently with indie-rock styled guitar, vocals and drums.
Fronted by brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, Lime Cordiale have been quickly making their way up the indie charts, supporting big names like The Rubens, Ball Park Music, and Cosmo Jarvis during their Australian tours.
The EP kicks off with their newsiest single “Bullshit Aside” whose jazzy trombone and tambourine infused drumbeat creates the energetic and vibrant tone that carries on throughout the entire record.
Switching gears towards the end, it adopts a much slower, mellow sound, which dramatically contrasts the previous title track.
“Everything Else” shows that Lime Cordiale are willing to explore and develop on their own unique style, however does not seem to fit fluently into their current release.
With its constant up-beat drum line, quirky lyrics and catchy chorus, standout track “Sleeping At Your Door” should earn itself a spot on anyone’s summer playlist. Drawing on experiences of their own carefree teenage years, Lime Cordiale have created strong lyrics that force your mind back to those embarrassing encounters in your awkward youth.
The band have brought together a mixture of many genres, and what has emerged is a unique and fresh take on the indie rock/pop genre that promises a future filled with an abundance of groove-tastic tunes.
