A growing number of disappointed fans have taken to social media to complain about the Melbourne leg of the RnB Friday Live concert.

Back in August, it was announced that the RnB Fridays Live concert tour would be making its way around the country this November. With the likes of Usher, Salt N Pepa, Naughty By Nature, and Trey Songz on the bill, fans were getting keen for a night of new school hits, and classic throwbacks.

However, soon after the Melbourne leg of the concert on Saturday night, it became clear that fans were not at all happy.

As triple j’s Hack program reports, a Facebook group – titled ‘RnB live Melbourne robbed us…refund our money now‘ – sprung up shortly after the event, and has since grown to well over 2,000 members.

The group consists wholly of people sharing their disdain for Saturday’s event, which took place at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and was attended by approximately 51,000 people.

According to the group’s members, their concerns revolve around a number of issues with the concert, including poor sound quality, obstructed views, excessive lines for food and other amenities, and a severe lack of security.

One user on the group also drew attention to an excessive amount of drug use occurring at the event, while noting that the sound quality was so distorted that it was “embarrassing”.

“It is clear that from the organisers, to the promoters to the hosts, no one has done their job efficiently and effectively,” wrote Kelly Rebecca. “I have been to many concerts and events in my life to be able to compare this to those of my past and this was a downright disgrace.”

“The performers deserved more energy and time put into an event that they fly half way across the world for. None of what occurred on Saturday night was in anyway their fault and everyone else involved in this event should be disgusted in how it was run.”

The Rnb Fridays Live team shared a post to Facebook on Monday, addressing the blowback that they had received over the previous days.

“While some of the concerns raised were addressed on the night, we understand that some of our guests remain dissatisfied by their experience,” they wrote. “We are currently in conversation with Marvel Stadium with regards to comments we have received about the length of queues and the state of the venue facilities.”

Frontier Touring – the organisers of RnB Fridays Live also released a statement to Hack, explaining “On the night of the Melbourne event, our team worked hard to deal with the issues raised by our guests, with considerable success.”

“We are, however, incredibly disappointed that the event did not run as smoothly as it has historically or to the high standards our collective businesses believe appropriate.”

“We recognise that some of our guests remain dissatisfied by their experience and a small percentage of the 51,000 fans in attendance have since contacted us to express their disappointment.”

While fans are yet to learn whether refunds will be given for the event, RnB Fridays Live is set to wrap up this Saturday in Sydney, following a Brisbane show on Friday.
