The Fat As Butter 2013 Lineup has been announced and the major music event in the Newcastle area, now in its sixth year, is for the first time this year becoming a camping event with the FAB Camp Experience.
Taking place on the cusp of summer this November, Fat As Butter have confirmed the strong mix of homegrown bands as well as a fine selection of international acts, together spanning hip-hop, folk, rock, electronic, indie, and everything in between, across multiple stages.
Topping the bill is New York rap rock outfit Gym Class Heroes, alongside homegrown hip hop successes Bliss N Eso, following their #1 album position for Circus In The Sky. Providing some gentler folk stylings but with powerful voices and emotive storytelling will be Matt Corby and Boy & Bear.
Mickey Avalon will be bringing his unique brand of debauchery to the Fat As Butter 2013 Lineup, along with fiery rock stalwarts British India, eclectic UK sensation Cosmo Jarvis, enchanting songstress Owl Eyes, the much awaited return of the danceable rock of The Holidays, Brisbane indie-infused outfit Battleships, and there’s more Aussie hip hop delights with Spit Syndicate and Dialectrix.
Also on the bill are DJ sets from USA’s Porter Robinson and German acts Digitalism and Booka Shade, sure to bring a hefty slice of EDM-fuelled raves to the mix. Along with the likes of Bombs Away, Aston Shuffle DJs, Gold Fields DJs, Peking Duck, plus Willow Beats, and The M Machine. Best of all, there’s even more acts to be added to the bill in the lead up to the November festival.
Enjoying picturesque beach views and a harbour side cityscape at the IFEA World Festival and Event award winning Newcastle, Fat As Butter brings camping to the event for the first time in its six year; an expansion that drew ire from local residents concerned over the implications of thousands pouring upon the local foreshore for the event after festival promoters, Mothership Music, made an application to local council.
Regardless of the mild controversy surrounding its on-site revellers, Fat As Butter has earned its FAB Site Camping rites, complete with a ferry ride for campers direct to the festival. The camping grounds will be located at Shortland Lawn, The Foreshore. According to organisers, it boasts “the island stylings of a beachside camp where Hawaii meets Polynesian island soul, in a tantalising camping destination with the style, adventure and colour of the classic yet cool summer coastal escape!”
