With so much new music floating around the interwebs, sometimes it’s hard to dig a little deeper and find out more about a promising artist.
That’s why The Profile is breaking it down for you. The Pitch takes care of the nitty gritty factual bits, The Plot serves as a Q & A with the artist, and The Plug is where you can go for more.
The Pitch
Leaks is a 19-year-old Melbourne by way of Geelong producer, who since releasing his debut EP De Landa (which we adored, read the review here) has been making splashes in Melbourne’s music scene. Having just wrapped up a stellar performance at this year’s Strawberry Fields Festival, the wunder-teen will he hitting up both Paradise and Inca Roads music festivals this weekend.
Leaks has also just dropped a new single which you can listen to below. Jump on this bangwagon!
The Plot
Hometown:
Initially from Geelong. However after graduating from year 12 last year I moved to Melbourne.
Influences:
Mount Kimbie, King Krule, Maribou State, Charles Murdoch, Sleep Decade, and Jon Hopkins
Dream Collaboration:
George Maple, Solange, Oscar Key-Sung (those voices are holy).
Venue/Festival you’d love to play:
Strawberry Fields had always been a festival I wanted to play and I was lucky enough to be given the chance this year. The people, setting, music and overall vibe of the festival has always been so appealing to me and being able to perform there really justified this one as possibly favourite victorian festival.
Best gig you’ve ever been to:
I saw Mount Kimbie at Hi-Fi a couple of years ago, that was really cool. James Blake’s shows are something not to be missed either.
Favourite Local:
Mercat
Favourite Local Act:
Surf Dad. George and Declan Sands would probably have to be the most frustrating, stubborn and tenacious brothers I have ever met, however they would also have to be the most talented. Their knowledge and taste of music, mixed with their unquestionable chemistry has provided them with this unique and eccentric ability produce the some of most engaging and appealing tracks I’ve heard from the Melbourne music scene. They are defiantly one to keep an eye on.
