Both epic love story and autobiography, Hail is the culmination of six years of collaboration between Amiel and lead actor Daniel P Jones, a former prisoner with a poet’s view of the world. The film focuses on the relationship between Daniel and his real life partner, Leanne Letch, following his release from prison.
The Film has already received critical praise from Australia’s top critics with Margaret Pomeranz giving it four and a half stars on At The Movies last week and Phillipa Hawker of the Age giving it four stars. The Monthly named Hail the best Australian Film of 2012 writing that “No previous Australian feature has gone this far into a disturbed sensory world” and Hugo Weaving named Hail “A terrifyingly powerful composition with disturbs and re-imagines cinematic boundaries”. It premiered at Venice Film Festival last year and this year won the Critic’s Prize at Melbourne Film Festival and the Jury Prize at Fantasia Festival in Montreal.
