Two of Australia’s most heralded independent bands, ethereal Brisbane pop sextet Founds and Adelaide’s angular Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! have banded together for a six-date co-headline Australian tour throughout June 2012, dubbed The Gemini Tour.
The pair of artists who hail from opposite ends of the country forged a connection over a common love of contemporary, progressive, and cinematic music beneath a starry night at Peats Ridge Music & Arts Festival last New Year’s Eve where both acts were critically hailed for their stand-out performances on the event’s programme.
Triple j Unearthed winners, Founds, have spent 2012 thus far hard at work on their debut album, Hadean, with producer Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise), whilst crafting a new, more visual, live show. The first cut from the album “Avalanches” was made available this week and is already gaining buzz.
The year gone-by has also seen Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! hunkered down in the studio with Welsh producer Gareth Parton (Foals, Fucked Up) recording material towards their forthcoming sophomore album, the first taste of which was 2011’s excellent single, “Panther Shrine”, recorded and released in-between high-profile tours with international names (St Vincent, Band of Skulls, British Sea Power) as well as home-grown heroes (Kimbra, Guineafowl, Big Scary).
