Stephen Drozd, multi instrumentalist for the Flaming Lips, has been hospitalised, forcing the band to cancel two gigs over the weekend. The band had to pull the plug on Florida’s SunFest at eleventh hour, leaving an empty slot in the lineup. They also said that they were canning the Memphis in May festival. No reason has been given for his hospitalisation, however he has form for a few rock n’ roll afflictions. He’s a recovering heroin addict, which was candidly documented in the band doco Fearless Freaks. Drozd took to Twitter to thank fans for their support. “I had to do this and I’m getting it together.”
