2019 is shaping up to be a big year for fans of indie-folk, with Fleet Foxes teasing some new demos on Instagram.

Back in 2012, Seattle’s Fleet Foxes disappointed fans everywhere by revealing their would be going on hiatus following the departure of drummer Josh Tillman (aka, Father John Misty), and frontman Robin Pecknold moving to New York to attend university.

In 2017, the band finally announced their comeback, unleashing their third album, Crack-Up, returning to the live stage, and even visiting Australia for the 2017/2018 Falls Festival. Now, the future is looking bright once again.

Taking to Instagram on New Year’s Day, Robin Pecknold shared a collection of seven demo tracks, captioning the post by writing “Forward ! (Very very demos happy new year)”.

At this stage, we’ve got idea when we might be finally hearing fleshed-out versions of these new songs, though there’s a very good chance we’ll be hearing them before the end of the year.

In late 2016, prior to the release of Crack-Up, Robin Pecknold revealed that the band would be “working on [album number] 4 as soon as 3 is done”, noting that we could expect the record “within 24 months of LP3 according to contract”.

Considering that Crack-Up was released in mid-June of 2017, there’s a strong chance that the band will be legally obligated to release the album by June of 2019. Only time will tell at this stage, but in the meantime, at least we have a bunch of interesting new demos to tide us over with!
