Indie superstars Florence + The Machine have announced a massive comeback to Australian shores for 2019. The band will be making their first trip to Australia since 2015, where they took to the stage of Splendour In The Grass.
Now, in celebration of their upcoming album High As Hope, set for a release on June 29, Florence + The Machine will be performing shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Geelong’s Mt Duneed Estate.
Coming along for the huge slew of all-ages shows will be up and coming alt-pop wunderkind Billie Eilish and NZ singer-songwriter Marlon Williams set to play at select shows. Tickets for the huge tour will go on sale on Thursday 28 June, 12midday local time.
High As Hopes marks Florence + The Machine’s first album since 2013‘s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which marked the band’s third consecutive number 1 on the UK charts.
The single ‘Hunger’ is fans first taste of what the album has to offer, which Florence Welch said is about our attempts to feel less alone.
“This song is about the ways we look for love in things that are perhaps not love, and how attempts to feel less alone can sometimes isolate us more,” Florence said of the song.
“I guess I made myself more vulnerable in this song to encourage connection, because perhaps a lot more of us feel this way than we are able to admit. Sometimes when you can’t say it, you can sing it.”
