You might recall back in March of last year, the internet was alight with rumours that the Foo Fighters were breaking up. True to their trademark humour, the group released a jovial video making it clear that they weren’t breaking up, but were taking some time off. Following news earlier this year that Dave and Co. are working on a new album, their hiatus is officially over thanks to a comeback gig in the UK.
Fans may have noticed this week that the Foo Fighters Facebook page were up to …something. Having posted links to a fictiouts Obelisk Airlines, fans knew that the group were cooking something up. With rumours abound that the group were set to headline the Glastonbury Music Festival this year, everyone was waiting with bated breath to see what the band was going to deliver.
Streaming live via YouTube, the group streamed a webcast in which they were shown visiting Worthy Farm in Somerset, the location in which Glastonbury is held. After confirming their appearance at the festival, the group moved onto a venue in Frome, which saw the group perform live for the first time since November of 2015.
The concert, held in the non-profit venue The Cheese And Grain, consisted of 24 Foo Fighters songs that showed off the group’s large back catalogue, including ‘Sean’, from their latest release, the Saint Cecilia EP, which was played for the very first time.
Additionally, the group took the opportunity to announce a small run of northern-hemisphere shows for later in the year, but at this point, no Aussie shows have been announced, so we’ll have to sit tight.
At this time, the group’s livestream has been taken offline, but stay tuned, and we’ll be sure to share it here once the video become’s available once more. In the meantime though, check out the setlist from their surprise concert, along with some video footage, below.
