The former promotions and label manager for hardcore record labels UNFD and Hopeless Records is launching a brand new boutique public relations agency in Melbourne.
PR pioneer Seam Lam is the woman behind the new agency, named Paris Is Patient, set up following her years working with UNFD, whose roster includes the likes of ARIA-topping The Amity Affliction, Dream On Dreamer, and Northlane, as well as her previous experience with Hopeless Records, who cover big names The Used, Silverstein, and Yellowcard.
Lam is a noted member of the entertainment publicity circuit where she worked passionately for independent record labels; she has marketed and promoted over 200 acts in Australia and New Zealand and was instrumental in the ARIA Top 20 Album chart debuts of All Time Low’s Don’t Panic at #13, House Vs. Hurricane’s Crooked Teeth at #20 and The Used’s Vulnerable at #18 in 2012.
As the founder and director of the new Melbourne-based firm, Lam notes that the company will specialise in communications strategy, publicity and media representation for the Australian music, arts and entertainment industry, while “offering media relations and outreach, social media planning, marketing solutions and styling services with the highest degree of personal attention.”“Want an ass kicker? Get Seam on board! You won’t be disappointed. If you are let me know and I’ll go kick her ass for you. Either way you win.” – Chris O’Brien, Soundwave Touring
Her attention is focussed on marketing communications projects which aim to partner with both local and international artists, labels, management, promoters and brands to create a cohesive PR campaign for both EP and album releases as well as tours and personal publicity to individual artists.
Lam reveals she is “committed to creating genuine connections with our client’s audience, ensuring their products and brand is represented to become top-of-mind in the relevant media.”
She will surely have similar projects in her sights for Paris is Patient noting that, “the agency is looking onward to ample creative inspiration and partnering with clients on passion projects to achieve successful outcomes and impact in a fast-evolving media culture.”
Paris Is Patient has also set up a ‘Testimonials’ page, with a number of industry figures championing Seam Lam’s abilities; including General Manager at Soundwave Festival Chris O’Brien: “Want an ass kicker? Get Seam on board! You won’t be disappointed. If you are let me know and I’ll go kick her ass for you. Either way you win.”
After parting ways with both music labels she dreamt of setting up her own business on a creative level, and it seems fitting that she will continue the creativity seen in her work with UNFD and Hopeless Records.
Speaking of UNFD, their own PR team recently had a boon in managing the mysterious ‘Singularity’ launch back in January, the social media PR stunt involved a no-give-away posting of a link on their Facebook page to a countdown timer with the enigmatic title ‘Singularity’. Rumours then began circulating that UNFD were planning a hardcore festival called ‘Singularity 2013’, featuring a collection of successful acts on their roster including ARIA-Topping The Amity Affliction, Dream on Dreamer, Hand of Mercy, In Hearts Wake, and Northlane.
When the doomsday countdown ended however, it was revealed that the mystery of ‘Singularity’ was in fact the title of the forthcoming album for emerging metal band Northlane.
