Fountains of Wayne founder Adam Schlesinger has been hospitalised with COVID-19. As Variety reports, the musician is on a ventilator but is not in a coma, contrary to initial reports.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love for Adam and his family,” Fountains of Wayne frontman Chris Collingwood shared in a statement. “Adam has been hospitalized with COVID-19. He’s on a ventilator and has been sedated to facilitate his recovery.

“He is receiving excellent care, his condition is improving and we are cautiously optimistic.”

In addition to his work with Fountains of Wayne, Schlesinger is a multiple Emmy and Grammy award winner. He has also received Oscar, Golden Globe and Tony Award nominations for his soundtrack work.

The musician has acted as music producer for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, writing upwards of 150 songs for the series. At the 2018 Emmy Awards, he received a nod for the outstanding original music and lyrics category for his song ‘Antidepressants Are So Not A Big Deal’.
