Major Lazer, Diplo’s famous Jamaican commando, is finally back with his much anticipated second album, with a compilation of tracks that steps up from the last record and capitalises on the unique experimental sound we first heard on Guns Don’t Kill…

From reggae and electro, to hip hop and grungy dancehall, there’s not many genres missing from this piece.

Diplo has definitely risen to fame since the release of the first album, and with DJ Switch having split from the former duo, Diplo invested the help of  DJs/producers Jillionaire and Walshy Fire for the stream of live tours that preceded this recently released mix masterpiece.

The album kicks off with the sexy sounding party track ‘You’re No Good’ which features a host of people including Santigold, Yasim, Vybz Kartel, and Danielle Haim.

The electronic drop in ‘Jet Blue Jet’ keeps the party in gear before flowing into that track we all know Triple J favourite ‘Get Free’.

Among the many guest appearances on the album is Flux Pavilion, bringing dubstep to life in ‘Jah No Partial’.

The first reggae piece of the record, ‘Jessica’, falls into that stereotypical image of a track for those sitting around and getting high as can be. The party then picks up again in ‘Watch Out For This’, ‘Sweat’ and ‘Mashup The Dance’.

The seemingly long lost Shaggy is back, guest appearing on ‘Keep Cool’ alongside Wynter Gordon.

There is definitely a mix of the obscure of the record, including tracks such as ‘Bubble Butt’ and ‘Scare Me’.

If you’re looking for a bit of everything, then give this piece a listen.
