Southern Californian Stoner Rockers FU MANCHU, in an intense coup for the Cherry Bar in AC/DC Lane Melbourne, will headline the sixth annual street music festival, CherryRock012 on Sunday 29 April 2012.

Cherry booker and co-owner James Young says, “It has been a decade since Fu Manchu’s ‘California Crossing’ tour in Australia. There’s going to be so much fuzz on the speakers in AC/DC Lane that we may have to shave them.”

Young says that this year they took a different approach to securing their headline act, “In the past when we’ve had The Datsuns, Rose Tattoo and Died Pretty to a certain extent we were after the best that was available and presented to us. This year we just sat back and said, who would be the best band in the whole world to play CherryRock012? Fu Manchu. Agreed. OK. Let’s go get ‘em!”

As usual, the only street rock n roll festival in Australia, CherryRock012, will run from 12noon till 9pm across 2 stages in Cherry Bar and in AC/DC Lane, featuring some fifteen killer rock acts.

Also confirmed… San Franciscan doom-sludge-metal duo Black Cobra (USA), our best local hard rock psychedelic act Matt Sonic & the High Times, loose rockers Bitter Sweet Kicks, thrash-punks Vice Grip Pussies, local Southern rockers My Dynamite, Celtic punk-psychobillies The Ramshackle Army, all-girl young grunge trio Valentiine with many more surprises to come.

It’s time to be proud of Melbourne for being the rock n roll capital of the Southern Hemisphere. It’s time for CherryRock012.
