Seminal post-hardcore outfit and godfathers of the scene, Funeral For A Friend, unplugged for good back in 2016.

Now, the group has taken to Facebook to announce they will be returning to the stage once more for a run of shows held in support of a close friend of the band who was diagnosed with a terminal illness.

In the announcement, the band themselves admit that requests from fans to reunite after their farewell tour in 2016 were common, however the answer was always a hard and fast no, “Because there was never any reason to…until now” the post reads.

The band reveal that recently, friend of the band and fan of the band Stuart ‘Big Stu’ Brothers, had received a terminal prognosis. Ultimately, Big Stu was given mere weeks to live. As such, FFaF are springing to action to help Stu and his family through this terrible time.

“As Stu’s friends, we wanted to do something to help,” the band announced, “Particularly for his family and 3 young sons, who are going through unspeakable trauma right now.

“We discussed the possibility of auctioning off some FFAF memorabilia (which we’ll still do), but it became apparent that the way in which we could best help Stu was to perform some fundraising shows, with the proceeds going directly to his family.”

Funeral For A Friend will be reforming for two UK shows. They go into further details of what fans can expect from the brief, but effective, run.

“Being that Stu was an old-school fan right from the very start, we will mainly be performing material from the early part of our career circa 2002-2007.”

The band’s line up for the dates will consist of regular members Matt, Kris, Gav, and Rich, with Darran Smith returning for the first time since 2010 on guitar, and drummer Ryan Richards re-joining the fold after leaving in 2012.

For fans who aren’t located in the UK, a fundraiser page has been set up for you to give your support and details for the memorabilia will be sure to arrive soon.
