Gary Numan has stated that he is “utterly devastated” following an accident with his tour bus that resulted in the death of an elderly man.

As The Blast reports, Gary Numan has cancelled his performance in the US state of Ohio following a fatal accident just after noon on Monday.

Police reported that a 91-year-old man was crossing the street around 12:40 PM when he was struck by Gary Numan’s tour bus. While it’s not clear if Numan was on board the vehicle at the time, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 45-year-old driver of the vehicle has not been arrested, but police are currently checking nearby surveillance cameras to further investigate the situation.

Following the incident, Gary Numan took to Twitter to issue a statement in regards to the tragedy, and announced the cancellation of his Monday night show.

“We are all utterly devastated by the fatal accident involving our tour bus in Cleveland earlier today,” he began. “Everyone of us is filled with a sadness that made it impossible to even consider playing our show this evening, and out of respect it would have been entirely wrong.”

“I’m sure you can understand why we cancelled and I apologize to the House Of Blues and to the fans for any difficulties or disappointment this decision may have caused. All tickets will be honored at the point of purchase.”

“At the moment all we can think about are the people affected by this terrible tragedy and to them we send all our love.”

As The Blast also points out, this isn’t the first time that Gary Numan has been involved in an incident such as this. Back in 2011, Numan’s tour bus was involved in an accident while trying to overtake another vehicle. Thankfully, this incident resulted in no fatalities or severe injuries.
