When music fans look back at beginning of 2021, they’ll think of viral debut releases from acts like Olivia Rodrigo, who burst on the scene and seemed to take over the world in the same breath. But there will be another name on their lips too: froomes.

Thanks to collaborations with multi-award winning artists Flume, G Flip and Flight Facilities – and of course lyrical fire that could burn down Parliament House – froomes is exactly the type of artist this year needs.

If you haven’t been following comedian, artist, unofficial Sirena Tuna ambassador and Froomesworld CEO, froomes, then we’d be happy to introduce you. The Sydney-based polymath has been going from strength to strength since she left her writing and video producing role at Pedestrian.tv amid the Covid-19 pandemic last year.

From her hilarious obsession with Shane Warne, to her hot takes on Jeffrey Campbell shoes and sparkling water – to turning her allergic reaction to lip fillers into comedy gold – Tone Deaf is now a lifelong fan of Lucinda Froomes Price.

Imagine our utter delight then, when froomes caught the eyes of both G Flip and Flume after posting lyrics she had penned at an airport to Instagram. Both Flume and G Flip reached out separately to collaborate, with Grammy nominee Flumes offering t0 make a beat and G Flip opting for backing vocal duties.

The outcome is ‘Froomesworld: The Song’, an undeniable bop that will have you laughing and twerking all at once. In fact, froomes does a bit of both in the official music video.

“I’ve always been interested in becoming a musical genius, but I didn’t know how it was going to come about,” froomes told triple j. “I thought it would be something I’d have to do on my own…”

To help our readers become better acquainted with froomes, we have perfectly timed this Get To Know Q&A following Flight Facilities’ remix of her debut single ‘Froomesworld: The Song’. The video is a vision to behold.

Without further ado, please meet froomes….

Get To Know: froomes

How did your artist name come about?

Froomes is my middle name.

How would you describe your music to your grandma?

She’s dead.

Tell us about a few of your tracks; their titles and what they’re about?

My latest track is ‘Froomesworld: The Song’. It’s about being the sexiest CEO in the whole Froomesworld. Jeff Bezos actually wet himself when he first heard it.

Some other hits include ‘2004’ (an ode to a deeply underrated year):

One of my deeper cuts is ‘Fish Bitch’; a middle finger to a former colleague with whom I had a professional rivalry. It was inspired by a passive aggressive email they sent, asking me to stop microwaving tuna next to their desk. I didn’t. They moved desks.

I’m partial to a cover, too. My most critically-acclaimed reinterpretation is of ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ by Mark Ronson ft. Miley Cyrus:

What do you love about your hometown?

My hometown is Melbourne, Australia. I love that it is home to Chadstone (The Fashion Capital). I have an enormous disposable income that I like to splash at various shops including Tarocash and Politix.

Career highlight so far?

Kissing James Blunt on the cheek.

Fave non-music hobby?

Wanking and eating chocolate.

What’s on your dream rider?

McDonalds, Mumm Champagne and Mudshake Cruisers. That’s a death row meal. Essential for after I fkn murder it onstage at Hordern Pavillion.

Dream music collaboration?

Tame Impala.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Married and miserable in Mount Waverley.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

‘Bittersweet Symphony’ by The Verve. Long, slow, painful. Depressing enough to ruin the mood, so we can all leave and get McDonald’s.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

I don’t take advice, only give it.

What’s one obsession you have that no one would guess after listening to your music?

Shane Warne.
