LÂLKA is the PC pop leader of the future. 2019 has seen the Brisbane musician cement her status as one of the most interesting, subversive artists in the country with the release of two stirring pop cuts, ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘Go Psycho’. She also cut her teeth supporting Charli XCX during her intimate, underground ‘1999’ party.
LÂLKA is a true DIY pioneer, her track ‘Go Psycho’ is an exploration of her experience as a self-produced musician and woman in an industry so often crushed by the “status quo.”
We were desperate to know more about the trailblazing musician, so we sat down and picked her brain with a few ‘get to know’ questions, check out what she had to say below.

How did your artist name come about?
I just liked the way it sounded and looked. Aesthetic.
How would you describe your music to your grandma?
Tell us about a few of your tracks; their titles and what they’re about?
I wrote ‘Go Psycho’ to demand that the patriarchy not touch my pride, glory and feelings that I express through my clothes/body I’m fully aware that the lyrics “my style so fly” can come across as obnoxious but as a woman of colour living/working in a society deeply entrenched in sexism+colonialism, it’s a critical boundary that I need to assert.
‘Bang Bang’ is less deep. It’s just about having fun without being worried about ego or looking stupid.
