Lax, luscious, luxurious, dreamy, are all words you could use to describe a beach by the California sunrise, but they all apply just as well to Tim Ayre and his new track, ‘Not Like It Should Be’. We sat down with Perth’s tropical pop pioneer to get to know him better, so that you too may bliss out to his stellar new tunes.

Tim Ayre has returned, after releases smooth-sailing sunset track ‘LAXX’ earlier this year, with a brand new tune that goes by the name of ‘Not Like It Should Be’, which burns just as bright.

Born in Perth but based in Melbourne, Ayre is a man of many hats, a tune-maker of many talents. Summer is his season, and now that Winter is over, he has decided to spring back into the sunlight (no pun intended) with some new tunes to bless our ears. ‘Not Like It Should Be’ is the singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist at his best, where influences such as The Beach Boys, Tame Impala, The Beatles and The Flaming Lips can be identified, but never feel copied.

Ayre uses his inspirations to blend them into a beautiful cocktail, one that we’ve never really heard before in the music scene, where everyone and their mothers are chasing the sun to put out the best summery tune. On ‘Not Like It Should Be’, Ayre continues the lax and dreamy nature of his previous tune ‘LAXX’, and masters it into what can only be described as sonic relaxation. No seriously, it sounds like laying on a hammock in Summer. Don’t believe me, just listen for yourself.

The track belongs to Ayre’s upcoming debut EP, which will be out later this year (November to be exact), and is also host to previous track ‘LAXX’.

Tim describes the track; “It’s about feeling left out or forgotten somewhere in the craziness of the world, then coming to terms with those feelings and trying to be happy in your own way.”
