After close to a decade away from our shores, emo icons The Get Up Kids have revealed they’re heading back to our shores for a run of shows this October.

Ever since they formed back in 1995, The Get Up Kids have been one of the most prominent names associated with the rise of emo music.

Following the release of a number of split singles and EPs in the early years, the band’s studio albums soon became classics of the genre, with albums such as Something to Write Home About and Guilt Show being (rightly) considered one of emo’s finest moments.

Following a split from 2005 to 2008, The Get Up Kids reformed, visiting Australia for the Soundwave Festival back in 2010, and touring again in support of their new album the following year.

Since then, it’s been too long since they’ve been anywhere near an Aussie venue. How long is too long? Well, after close to a decade, the band are set to head back to our shores, and this time they’ll be armed with new music.

With The Get Up Kids set to release their latest album, Problems, in May, the group have revealed they’ll be heading to Australia for a whirlwind tour this October.

Kicking off at the Crowbar in Sydney on October 4th, the group will spend the rest of their weekend visiting The Brightside in Brisbane, before wrapping it all up at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne.

After eight years away from our shores, Aussie fans are undoubtedly set to welcome back this iconic with open arms, so be sure to grab your tickets when they go sale at 9am, on Thursday, April 18th.
