A few days ago it was confirmed that Ariana Grande had pulled out of attending the 2019 Grammy Awards following a disagreement with show’s producers over her performance. As Variety reports, Grande was set to perform a selection of her catalogue as part of the ceremony. However, she has since pulled out of attending the ceremony altogether after a disagreement with the producers over which songs she would perform.
Grande took to Twitter to fire back at Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich. Who, in an interview with The Associated Press, claimed that Ariana was not appearing at the ceremony because they felt it was “too late for her to pull something together.” A claim which Grande has disputed.
“I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” Grande tweeted earlier today, “I can pull together a performance overnight and you know that, Ken. It was when my creativity & self-expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”
She continued “I offered 3 different songs. It’s about collaboration. It’s about feeling supported. It’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favours or playing games. It’s just a game Y’all.. and I’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.”
