Looking for something to do while in quarantine? Grateful Dead have announced a weekly livestream concert series to take away the boredom.

We’re all on the search for something to do while we’re stuck inside, and luckily musicians are making it quite easy – virtual concerts are being held left and right, there are free online lessons being taught by metal icons, and now Grateful Dead have come out with ‘Shakedown Stream’.

Set to be a weekly live-streamed concert series, the first instalment of ‘Shakedown Stream’ will kick off this Friday on the bands YouTube channel. The first episode is set to highlight the iconic rockers July 4th, 1989 show at Rich Stadium in New York.

As the first concert saw the legendary band power through 21 songs throughout their set, including a few Bob Dylan covers, the first episode is sure to get Deadheads pumped.

The idea was “conceived as a platform for Dead Heads of all ages to virtually congregate during the challenging days the world currently faces and connect in a familiar way.”

Before each stream, Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux and historian Gary Lambert will begin with a live pre-show where they’ll answer all sorts of questions from fan submissions.

“We’ve decided to start the streaming video series with the Buffalo ’89 show for a couple of primary reasons. Its excellence is indisputable and is something that we think pretty much everyone will enjoy in the absence of actually being able to see live concerts; and, as a tribute to the many rabid, loyal Dead Heads from the hard-hit tri-state area, which has been affected more than anywhere else in the country. To all of the Dead Heads in New York State and beyond, this one’s for you.”
