On Wednesday, it was announced that Green Day were planning to undertake a Facebook Live performance to raise money for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in America. Now, it’s been revealed just how much the group raised from the performance.

Taking to Facebook on Wednesday, the group outlined their plans to help raise money for those affected. “It’s time to band together and help those affected by Hurricane Harvey,” they wrote. “Tomorrow at 4pm EST we’ll be doing a performance on Facebook Live to raise money for Americares to support their Harvey relief efforts to help survivors.”

The band’s performance saw the group playing as their classic three-piece lineup as they went through a series of track from their early days. Only tracks prior to 1996 were included, as the band went through hits such as ‘When I Come Around’, ‘She’, ‘J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)’, and deep cuts such as ‘Paper Lanterns’, and 1989’s ‘Only Of You’. Check out the performance below.

“We felt like we had to do something,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong prior to the group’s performance. “You guys are a bunch of heroes and for all the people down in those communities and Texas that are affected, we’re going to play some old songs. It’s going to sound very garage-y in here.”

All up, Green Day ended up raising USD $100,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief from approximately 2,000 donors during the broadcast.

“Americares is truly grateful to have Green Day’s support,” Americares President and CEO Michael J. Nyenhuis said in a statement. “Their generosity and dedication means so much to us, as we restore health and hope for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.”

Green Day’s charitable efforts are just one of many that have resulted in the last few weeks. Fall Out Boy recently announced they were donating all proceeds from their Houston show to Hurricane Harvey relief, and Coldplay also recently performed a song that they wrote specifically for victims of the hurricane, after being forced to skip Houston due to the extreme weather.

Green Day also followed up this news by releasing a brand new animated lyric video for their 2016 Revolution Radio track ‘Too Dumb To Die’. You can check that one out, along with the setlist from Green Day’s Facebook Live performance, below.
