Last week, 16-year-old climate change activist Greta Thunberg brought the world to a halt after delivering a momentous speech at the United Nations. Thunberg passionately accosted the world leaders at the climate summit, accusing them of failing her generation by not taking the steps necessary to tackle greenhouse gas emissions.

The speech struck a chord worldwide and conjured up an impassioned response from one metalhead. John Meredith, a drummer from Indonesian thrash metal band, Suaka, remixed Thungberg’s iconic speech, transforming it into a guttural, death metal banger.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Meredith revealed: “When I saw her speech, I was very impressed by her passion and outrage.

“And the words she chose just evoked the darkness of the metal music I love: Entombed, Gojira, At the Gates, Sepultura.”

Amid her unrelenting attempts to save the planet, Thunberg has thankfully found time to view this masterpiece and weigh in with her feelings.

“I have moved on from this climate thing,” she tweeted in response to the video. “From now on I will be doing death metal only!!”.

Greta, we couldn’t stan harder if we tried.

This isn’t the first time the realms of Greta Thunberg’s activism and music have crossed over. In July, The 1975 shared the first track off their forthcoming record, Notes on a Conditional Form.

‘The 1975’ — the opening track from the record, features Thunberg relaying her January 2018 speech at the World Economic Forum.  “We are right now in the beginning of a climate and ecological crisis.” You can listen to the track below.

The 1975 are set to release their fourth record, Notes on a Conditional Form on February 21st, 2020.
