Forget being mainstays of the Australian alternative music scene, Hands Like Houses are nothing short of pillars of it, and today is a perfect example why. Not only have the band announced plans to look after their fans outside of urban centres, they’ve also dropped an incredibly taste re-work of their single Through Glass featuring Aussie wunderkind, Samsaruh.
While most bands stick closely to the beaten tour track, Hands Like Houses will be getting regional…deep regional, dropping a list of dates that quite frankly gave me a cramp formatting. The Through Glass regional tour will be a dedicated and thorough run of the roads less travelled by bands, let alone by an export as popular as Hands Like Houses.
To punctuate the dates further, the band released a re-work of its namesake, adding even more soul and punch to a track that was already well and truly breaching the stratosphere. Through Glass was given life as part of the bands 2018 chart-crusher Anon, however as frontman Trenton Woodley explained, the job wasn’t quite complete. Not yet.
“[We wanted] someone that would bring their own style and flavour to a song we were already immensely proud of,” he adds. “We were lucky enough to cross connections with Samsaruh, an incredible emerging artist in her own right, and she was an absolute gem to work with, bringing a new sense of urgency, passion and atmosphere that made ‘Through Glass’ feel like it was always meant to be this way.”
