As previously reported by Tone Deaf, the Happy Mondays’ saucer eyed resident drug dealer, dancer and maracca shaker Bez was in trouble with the law for assaulting his former girlfriend in a fight over money they’d received for a gig which he believed she’d stolen (or was so wasted he couldn’t remember his own name).
The judge at the trial may have been a Happy Mondays fan as he was initially offered a community work order as a sentence at Manchester Magistrates Court. Bez, however, was rather bummed with that offer and turned it down, leaving the magistrate with no option but to send him to join the 24 hour locked up in a cell party people, jailing Mark Berry for four weeks.
